Sexual Health at Omnia
The surgery provides an ‘Enhanced Sexual Health Service’. By this we mean that patients who may be registered with the practice or other GP’s may obtain more specialised advice about sexually transmitted infections and contraception.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE REGISTERED AS A REGULAR PATIENT TO USE THESE SERVICES
We welcome both men and women to the practice, whether you are straight, gay or bisexual or perhaps a bit of both. The most important aspect of care is that you feel comfortable to share your concerns with us in a a most confidential and friendly environment. We will do whatever we can to help and if necessary, refer you on to a more appropriate service.
Our experienced and trained practice nurses and doctors (the clinics are supervised by female doctors) are able to offer a wide range of contraception in the practice.
Clinics in the Surgery
Specific sexual health clinics are open Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 until 6:30 and on Thursday afternoons from 2pm until 4:30pm. Patients may also be seen for sexual health appointments outside the clinic hours.
Telephone Advice We are always happy to give personal advice over the telephone – please ask to speak to a nurse or a doctor with an interest in sexual health. If we are busy or unavailable at that time, ask to leave your contact number (ideally a mobile) and we will phone you back within the next 3 hours.
Confidentiality The issue of confidentiality is particularly important for patients who consult about sexual health issues. All our staff have received extra confidentiality training to reflect our concerns about this most important matter.
